The tales are plentiful and encounters oft rife with danger but the beauty and splendor of these beings have long captivated man and transcended time. Innate amongst human instincts is the drive to unravel the myth and be consumed by the rapture and magnificence associated with these creatures.

Last night was the Band Launch for "MACCO BOOK" - Big and Strong/One Island Body Paint's presentation for One Carnival 2011 at SOCA 360 here in Florida. I had big intentions of going out there...but sleep had a different plan for me.
Sigh.
Anyways...Thanks to Meli Maco..:) I was able to get some pics of the costumes as they displayed on stage.

The shape of this head piece is interesting and I love the color combination.
I would have loved a more detailed bra and a way for the distinctive shape of the head piece to be mirrored somewhere else, in the legs or arm or cuff....but this is still a favorite.

So...I didnt go. First time in UMPTEEN years. And I don't feel like I missed much. The Carnival Committee launched a month earlier than they have historically leaving quite a few of the stalwarts un-launched. And, like I expected, many of them opted to present just the bare minimum to ensure they were not in violation of One Committee rules. why would they want to show their designs to the public BEFORE their OWN band launch.
Noticeably missing from this presentation was Generation X, Wassi Ones, although two of their special sections - Adalia B' Mas and Island Gems - did present, Natural Freaks and Carnival Nationz Miami. All of these bands have not yet officially launched and opted to show pictures and/or flyers at the launch.
